Forte draws inspiration from the feminine version of the old Latin 'Fortis,' meaning strength — your individual forte, signifying your area of expertise. During this retreat, we engage practices to fortify our mental, physical, and energetic armour. While this theme is inspired by strength, you can expect our gentle approach to well-being, which allows vulnerability and encourages joy.
Last May, we were honored to be the very first to host a retreat in this one-of-a-kind location. Built in the 18th century and secluded in serene nature, we're very excited to host another Forte program this October. This new adventure has inspired us to create energizing experiences: practices that embrace both yin and yang, soft and strong elements, offering a multi-faceted blend of yoga, mindfulness, workouts, and stretch for a functional yet holistic approach to movement and mind—the best of many worlds.
Chloe is a trainer whose classes combine dynamic movement to help you transition from your head into your body. Inspired by cardio, sculpting, mobility, you can expect a fun, functional, and holistic approach to exercise. While she may push you a little, all classes are accessible and designed to meet you at your own pace, even if you haven't worked out in years.
To complement Chloe's yang, Emma embodies our yin. Emma teaches qigong, vinyasa, and her unique blend of the two practices: Qi Flow, focusing on mind and body awareness. She first practiced qigong with her mother as a teen and instantly fell in love with its calming movements and fluid breath.
For Emma and Chloe, movement and meditation are their antidotes to stress and modern life, helping us to respond in more calm, creative, and kind ways. What they love most about teaching is passing these tools on to others during this retreat.
In addition to meditation and movement practices, you can look forward to a cooking workshop with Lucy from 'Ever heard of Lola's', who will be our chef-in-residence this week and a day spent in the beautiful outdoors down at the Lima river.
We are sometimes so stuck in a state of doing that we forget to simply be. We cannot emphasise enough that rest is also a crucial part of regaining and maintaining strength, providing the necessary rejuvenation for the body and calmness for the mind; the inner peace so very needed for our well-being. Wander in the wildly beautiful gardens, unwind amid stunning views at the outdoor salt pool or heated indoor pool, or spend a cosy evening at the fireplace.
When wrapping up the day, we will dine on the terrace beneath the stars, retreating afterwards to en-suite bedrooms or cosy corners. Come alone, come with a friend (one suite even offers space for three), and embrace the joy of new meetings. We promise a warm and welcoming atmosphere, in close harmony with nature, and a commitment to sustainability.
We want you to let go of expectations and to create a sense of ease and full trust in the process, we do not share our schedule until the evening before. Look forward to a balanced program with practices for both body and mind, crafted with the passion and expertise gained over 8 years of hosting retreats.
We embrace an inclusive approach to movement and mindfulness, encouraging you to recognize that you are the expert of you, and there is no one-size-fits-all formula for well-being. We create a warm space for our guests to (re)discover their intuitive way of being. With guidance and tools from our team, we will support you on your path to living with resilience, calmness, joy and excitement.
For both movement and mindfulness practices, we welcome beginners and experienced practitioners alike. All movement classes are optional, acknowledging that some bodies crave (and deserve) lots of rest. Even with little engagement in the movement practices, you will still enjoy a complete retreat experience, as well-being extends beyond physical activity. This retreat offers an opportunity to meet yourself with self-acceptance and open arms, receiving the full abundance of what this precious life ahead has to offer.
Your check-in date is set for October 2nd. We've arranged two transfers at 1 pm, one from OPO airport and the other from Porto town, both included in the price. Feel free to arrive from 2 pm onwards, kicking off the retreat with a warm welcome dinner at 7 pm. On the departure day, we'll wrap up with a farewell brunch at 9 am, and check-out is at 11 am. Transfers to Porto or the airport will be arranged at that time.
