Well-being for women to me is:
To feel supported and to feel seen. The modern day woman can bear so much weight on her shoulders. Life can become really busy and we can end up living and doing with no time to focus on the being and the now. There’s nothing like connection with like-minded souls to encourage a feeling of lightness and grounding. Well-being for Women is to find your peace place.
I am proud of my latest:
I am proud of my latest event that was around Movement, Yoga and Strength paired with a Vision Setting Session centred around Literature with a friend. I created a space that felt like a home from home. I have guests coming to my events who are nervous and anxious about meeting new people, who don’t tend to go to group activity classes as they feel intimidated. Perhaps they have fear of trying new things too. It’s so warming for me that they took a leap outside of their comfort zone because they felt it was a welcoming space. It makes me so happy to see people take time for themselves and connect with others.
A woman that lately inspired me is:
My friend Kate, founder of Wildsource Skincare. We actually met on Instagram out of mutual love for each others work. We have only met once IRL but we both have toddlers who are similar ages and we keep in touch regularly talking about the constant juggle that is life! When I met Kate, her energy was electric, she was so inspiring to me and we connected so easily. Her knowledge and drive for her brand is incredible, and she has such a sense of ease but also her honesty is refreshing. She recently voice noted me as she could sense that maybe I needed support. It was exactly what I needed to hear and I felt so understood. I think she is amazing and I look forward to our friendship blossoming.
When self-doubt creeps up, I try to:
Speak to my support network. I am fortunate enough to have a big handful of friends who really support me, advise me and encourage me to be myself and wave the self-doubt away. Their genuine kind words and actions lead me to believe in myself and it really does top up my confidence.
To cultivate more joy in my life, I do:
I think about what I really love to do and just do it. Life can get serious at times and it’s so important to find joy through doing things that make you feel like you. One of my favourite things to do is wild swimming. I regularly go throughout the year to Kenwood Ladies Ponds and swim in the cold water. It can be really challenging but once you’ve had a dip in the freezing water, there’s a huge sense of accomplishment. There are women in their 80s who have been going daily for 60 years. I love talking with them. It’s a very sacred place for me, it feels so safe and special. In the summer it’s so incredible to see the generation span across women from all backgrounds.
A book, podcast, movie, exhibition I recently went to/saw/listened to that I recommend:
It has to be the podcast ‘The Time of the Feminine- A global Sisterhood Podcast.’ The particular show that stood out to me was ‘Anne Baring: Lessons on the Historical Suppression of the Feminine.’ Anne Baring provides historical context surrounding how the Feminine has been reduced, but provides thoughts around what we can learn from this and how we can move forward shifting to a more balanced society. The thread that runs through the conversation is around Nature, the Earth and Cosmos which provides a beautiful grounding.
